Food pantry

The WSBC Food Pantry is open every Tuesday, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Friendship Community House, next door to the church.  Because of COVID, we are operating in “drive-thru mode,” so our clients remain in their cars and our volunteers load the food into the trunk/rear area of the vehicle.  We require all vehicle occupants to wear masks and our volunteers do the same.  We distribute meat, produce, bread and non-perishables, including USDA commodities, according to family size. Each family can attend once each calendar month and we utilize a common data base with the nearby counties so we can track food pantry attendance.

While our primary focus is the residents of White Stone, Irvington and Weems, we will provide emergency food to anyone who needs it. We encourage families who live outside our area to find a food pantry near them by contacting the Healthy Harvest Food Bank at 804-250-2277 or at HHFB.org.

Helping out

Donations of food, money and pet food are always welcome and appreciated, as are volunteers. The food pantry serves as many as 45 families each week and is funded by the church, individual donations, local businesses and grants.  All monetary donations are used for food purchase, as the church provides for the cost of supplies, building upkeep. etc.  We also distribute dog and cat food purchased with funds donated specifically for that purpose.

Food is purchased from the Healthy Harvest Food Bank in Warsaw and is donated by area residents.

To find out about donations or volunteering, contact the church office at 804-435-1413.
